Celebrating 30 years as an award-winning independent publisher, Aurora Metro Books has a diverse and expanding list of over 200 authors. Ranging from homegrown talents such as Meera Syal and Benjamin Zephaniah to international authors such as Nawal el Saadawi, Jean-Claude Carriere and Mihail Sebastian, the company has promoted BAME authors, women authors and work in translation since its inception. Establishing a biennial competition for emerging women novelists, the Virginia Prize for Fiction in 2009, in honour of Virginia Woolf, the company went on to launch a campaign to fund a statue of the author in 2017, around 100 years after the birth of the Hogarth Press in Richmond. Their imprint Supernova Books explores the arts and culture in fresh and innovative ways, with books on music, film, theatre and the arts.
